A project for my Basic Drawing class. We had to design a zine that focused on a series of life drawings. My idea was to do a walk in the woods, but in comic form. The sketches themselves took at least 6 hours (not all at once, of course), and I now have a little zine that I can pass out to people. You can download the file here, print one out and make your own!
To make the zine:
1) Fold the paper hotdog style, then unfold it after you've given it a nice crease down the middle.
2) Cut a slit in the middle of the paper, on the crease where the tops of the inside pages meet.
3)Fold the paper hotdog style again, this time pinching the pages together- the slit will allow you to push the pages together and form a staple-less spine
4) Crease the pages and voila! You now have a tiny little booklet.
You can make your own zines using this technique on any old piece of paper; my sketches were all done on a simple piece of printer paper. I really enjoyed this project, and I'd love to try and make some more minicomics using this format. I'll be keeping this in mind for the future...
